Ok. Let's wrap this up.
I ordered 3/4" stick-on felt and made a square around the speaker opening. Just like the original. Even though it's stick-on, I tacked the corners with a staple.
Now for the grill cloth. First thing I did was check my 63 Showman head to see the orientation. If you notice, the brown stripe is horizontal.
First staples. Top center.
After the top is lined up, I pull tight and staple the bottom inside.
The hardest part is keeping the lines straight.
I'm no expert on grill cloth, so I just kinda cut and folded over the corners.
It's a little loose. I guess I didn't pull tight enough. Bummer. Oh well, I'll let it sit in the sun for a bit and see if it tightens up.
Mounted the front baffle.
While my JBL D-130F gets reconed, I'll put my Telonics Pedal Steel speaker in. Super light weight but it has a different sound. I hear good things about them plus it's built by Eminence.
Now the back panel is attached.
VIOLA! Done.
BTW, I pulled off the top piece of tolex, plugged the handle and bolt-down holes, re-drilled the handle dead-center, then put a new piece on top. Looks much nicer!
With my 63 Fender Showman head. The cloth almost matches! (Yes, I know it's loose. I'll work on fixing that.)
Surf Is Up!
All I have left to do is put the corners and feet on.
